About the NZ Truffle Co-operative

The production of truffles is increasing significantly in New Zealand and price competition in a restricted market is creating turbulence. Exporting truffles and EMF is complex and very hard for individual growers to manage.

The New Zealand Truffle Co-operative Limited was established in 2022 by the New Zealand Truffle Association and Growers to promote co-operative marketing and exporting.

This co-op invites present and intending truffle and EMF producers in New Zealand to apply to join.

Benefits of a co-op:

  • Co-ops are a world wide proven business model

  • Efficiency of scale

  • Price stability

  • Stability of supply to buyer (supply coming from multiple regions and growers)

  • The ability to regularly and consistently supply large volumes to a buyer

  • Greater resources and infrastructure to support and manage exporting

  • Longer season due to geographic spread of co-op producers

  • The volume and stability to be a player on the world market

  • Shareholders own the co-op and control their own destiny.

If you are a Truffle producer and are interested in joining the New Zealand Truffle Co-operative please contact us at secretary@trufflecoop.nz

The establishment of NZ Truffle Co-operative Limited has been supported by the NZ Truffle Association to assist the development of the truffle industry. NZTA (see www.nztruffles.org.nz) was established in 1990 and is the national industry body for truffles in New Zealand
